La La Land, being a fan of action and comic book genre, romance was not my cup of tea. But the constant ascend of imdb ratings had my curiosity at its peak. I didn't know much other than the fact that Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone starred in it. The very first scene got me hooked because I admire the long camera shots and appretiate the efforts taken to get it on camera. I've never really seen any movie where the lighting was used as professionally as this. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone were at their very best and their chemistry seemed so natural. This is the kind of movie that stays in people's hearts and DVD sets for decades and is right up there with 'Titanic' and 'Sound of music'. It was only later when I came to know that it was directed by Damien Chazelle, the same guy who directed 'Whiplash', another masterpiece. The music was so heartwarming and professional, people are going to be obsessed with the soundtrack for quite some time, don't know about the other songs but its on my playlist now. 'Fools who dream', 'City of stars' and 'Another day of sun' stood apart but the rest of the songs were equally magical. My only disappointment was the fact that JK Simmons didn't have a bigger role. I wish people made more movies like this.
Verdict:
9.1/10 and a sin to miss it in theatres.
