Hacksaw ridge - Spiderman pulls a Batman

Hacksaw ridge, directed by Mel Gibson is a war movie filmed based on the true story of Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield). This movie got everyone pumped up because of the awesome trailer and it more than lived up to our expectations. This movie starts of by showing us Doss's childhood incidents and his motivation to not touch a gun even in the battlefield. Desmond Doss is a sergeant who was raised by a Christian family and he believes that it's not right to kill someone. He stands by his principles and his values which make him such a lovable character. The romance between him and Dorothy is so beautiful and the two had outstanding chemistry between them. The war sequences here were some of the best ever put to the big screen. I was able to enjoy it more being a fan of the old call of duty games. Mel Gibson proves that he's got so much left in him and this is very much a huge comeback film for him. The take home message for me was that it's important to have faith in our beliefs, the world we live in right now has too much peer pressure and there's a handful of people who stand out and believe in principles and values. No matter what the world does, no matter how cliched they are, no matter what anybody else thinks about our values or principles, it's important for us to hold on to them because they define who we are and the kind of person we're going to become. It was a wake-up call for me to show more faith in my values and not give them up so easily. Little did I know that the awkward, stuttering Peter Parker is one day going to come up with an Oscar worthy performance. Hats off to Mel Gibson hats off the Desmond Doss's dad, another powerful performance overshadowed by other brilliant performances.
9.3/10
This could very well challenge Saving Private Ryan in being the best war movie of all time.
