Wonder woman - Wonder, power, justice

Wonder woman, directed by Patty Jenkins is the fourth movie in the DC extended universe, a universe which means a lot to a lot of people and which doesn't mean so much for the critics yet. This movie had to be many things for a wide variety of people, it had to be kick-ass female superhero origin story for girls and women, it had to be a good comic book movie with lots of easter eggs for fans, it had to be a decent movie for the critics, and it had to be a very bad movie so that the DCEU could be wrapped up for some hardcore Marvel fans. It managed to do every single of those except the last part, DCEU is far from finished my dear friends.

We were already introduced to Wonder Woman, Diana Prince in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice. She was a major reason for Doomsday's defeat and looks like she's going to start the justice league along with Bruce Wayne. Batman v Superman got mixed reviews but one thing that people mutually liked was Diana's introduction in the battlefield.

The movie is essentially an origin story for Diana Prince, and it starts off with little Diana who shows a lot of interest in fighting even when she was a kid. Diana is from an island called as Themiscyra, a place filled with Amazonian women who just fight and train, getting prepared for future threats. Diana is raised by the queen of the Amazons, Queen Hippolyta who's very concerned about little Diana's safety. Diana is particularly fond of her aunt Antiope, her aunt and the general of the Amazons who cuts her some slack, trains her to defend herself and teaches her some martial arts.

Things change when Steve Trevor, a British intelligence agent accidentally lands on the bay of the island and is later rescued by Diana. This is where the movie picks up some pace, Diana a girl who knows nothing of the outside world all of a sudden comes to know about a war that is taking place. She feels that her talents should be put to use and that mankind must be saved. Hippolyta warns her that the world doesn't deserve Diana and that she must not leave. After some protest, Diana finally leaves Themiscyra along with Steve for the war. She's eager to save mankind but at the same time, she's a fish out of wter. According to Diana, only two types of people exist in the world, good and bad so the fact that even the people she fights for could be a mixture of both is very hard for her to digest.

Steve Trevor is played by Chris Pine and DC could not have found a better person to cast as Steve. He quickly understands Diana's attitude and is very patient with her, at the same time lets her go outside and kick some ass. For a PG-13 movie there are some pretty interesting jokes here which fell into place perfectly. The chemistry between Chris and Diana is so magnetic and natural, and you'll just keep wanting more of it. My only regret is that I saw so little of them. 

Let's talk about Gal, she was cast as wonder woman sometime around 2013 and there weren't a lot of fans supporting the casting choice. Gal Gadot has served the Israeli army and she's a model, basically a mixture of both beauty and beast. A large portion of the movie was shot while she was pregnant and her commitment to the role is applaudable. A lot of people complained about her accent and her skinny body and Gal has proved the haters wrong. I wouldn't say that Gal is the perfect casting choice for wonder woman but the way she has adapted to tricky conditions is something which has definitely earned my respect for her. I loved her performance in Batman v Superman and there are some scenes where she has acted so well in wonder woman, so there are absolutely no issues when it comes to accent or acting, personally, I find her accent to be unique and attractive. Overall, a great casting choice and an extraordinary performance from Gal, I can't wait to see more of her in justice league.

The other notable members of the cast include Connie Nielsen as wonder woman's mother and Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as Antiope. I loved Robin Wright as Hippolyta, all I know about her is that she says 'run Forrest run' who knew she herself could run like a beast and take down dozens of men like a boss. I was astounded with her performance and all the other girls have worked real hard for this, looking ripped and all. But Robin Wright in particular, 51 years old and still managing to give us such an outstanding performance, proving that age is just a number.

Patty Jenkins has directed this movie and it's nice to see a female director getting a big budget film and doing a remarkable job with the resources she has. She's a big fan of the Christopher Reeve Superman series and there are some scenes which are very reminiscent of the 1978 Superman movie. The studio executives are very pleased with the response and it's only a matter of time until she signs up for part 2.

This movie has a 93% score on rotten tomatoes and has been doing a great job at the box office. The movie is being loved by both fans and critics and a huge hit at the box office. Personally, I really liked this film, the story was very coherent Gal was beautiful and did a great job with the action scenes, Chris Pine's dialogue delivery was remarkable and there were a lot of jokes to keep us engaged. There is still some epicness missing somewhere. We get to experience another huge finale just like the other DC movies but towards the end, but I was left with wanting more. I would have loved to see more of Diana and Steve together, I would have loved to see more world war fight scenes and once again, just like many other superhero films, there's a villain problem. It was announced long back that David Thewlis will be playing Ares the god of war but there were too many supernatural elements in it. I feel like they could have taken a little more time explaining them and the villain turned out to be pretty stereotypical. Like Man of Steel, this does feel like an Elseworld story, leaving behind some loose ends. So personally, I won't rate this better than Batman v Superman or man of steel. Perhaps the reason I feel this way is because I am a huge fan of the dark knight and the man of steel. Wonder woman is definitely an amazing film, but not something which even comes close to the likes of the dark knight, so all those claiming that it's better than dark knight, or any of the Nolan trilogy films for that matter, please stop.

I wanted a tease to the justice league, I wanted to see some more Easter eggs, since they are introducing mystical stuff, they could have maybe teased us some Doctor Fate or the possibility of a Shazam existing in the same universe. I know that things get messy if you start introducing more characters and that you should stick to the plot but this is a comic book movie and a tease wouldn't have done much harm. 

Before winding up, I'd like to just make a statement. I never really bothered about the rotten tomatoes ratings for Batman v Superman and man of steel, I still think both those movies are epic in their own way so the fact that this movie got a 93% doesn't really mean a lot for me. DCEU never needed saving from the fans, it was never a sinking ship, the fans wouldn't let that happen. Maybe it mattered to WB but I'm not a WB executive so I don't really care about the scores. It's good to see such high ratings but I believe that our individual opinions matter more than the opinion of a critic. I'm reviewing this nearly two weeks since its release, so I went in seeing all those ratings expecting a lot more than what I got to see.

A lot of work goes into making a movie, if you're interested you should go see it and a bad rating shouldn't stop you from seeing something you were excited for or a trailer that got you hyped. This would do justice to both the filmmakers and ourselves.Wonder woman is a great addition to the DCEU, it has certainly earned her a lot of fans, people are going to celebrate this year's Halloween with a blast and I'm happy that there is a new era of female superhero fans that this movie is going to give rise to in turn widening the possibility of future female led superhero films. A fantastic job by Patty Jenkins, Gal proved the haters wrong and Chris Pine was 'above average'

One thing which can be fixed in the upcoming DC movies is putting some more jokes here and there, I loved the jokes in this one. It didn't feel like they were trying to copy Marvel and the future DC films should make a note of them. Wonder woman talking about the reproductive system was wonderful. I would love to see some come from Batman and Superman too. This universe has given insane powers to all the heroes in terms of speed, strength and agility, it just makes us more excited to imagine what would happen if they come together and what kind of a threat they must be facing.

Sachin- A journey of 24 years between 22 yards

Sachin: A billion dreams is the biopic of our legendary Sachin Tedulkar directed by James Erskine. This movie tried to cover in two hours and nineteen minutes what Sachin has achieved in 44 years. Going into the film, my expectations weren't too high because initially, I thought that this was a proper documentary like MS Dhoni, the untold story. I feared that this was going to be another one of those Star Sports interviews but I wasn't disappointed with what I saw.

I was able to enjoy it a lot more because I've been following cricket ever since I started talking. Sachin was definitely my childhood superhero just like any other 90's kid born in India. Not just us, but people of all ages can connect to it because he's been in the limelight for a very long time. I can also proudly say that I have seen him play in Chepauk and am definitely honored to have been a part of his journey.

The movie is very well edited, overall its just a walkthrough of his personal and cricketing life. It had a lot more cricket than drama or romance or any other thing you expect from a movie and that's what makes this a lot more interesting than other biopics. We see him grow and learn as a cricketer with clips included from his interviews and press conferences throughout his career.

Something which I didn't like about it was the fact that other important people around him were given much importance. His family's support, the relationship with his father, mother, his brother Ajith and his coach were all beautifully shown, but cricket is won by a team, a team of eleven players, substitutes, and the coach. From what we see, its as if every single match was won single-handedly by Sachin. I'd have liked to see more of Dravid, Ganguly, Sehwag, Kumble, Yuvraj and Dhoni. That's my only issue with this movie, otherwise is a neatly edited, structured and a properly paced movie.

There are so many moments where any fan of Sachin or the Indian cricket team for that matter get goosebumps, and his chants which echo throughout the movie transforms the theatre into a stadium making you want to scream your heart out and join the crowd. Overall, Sachin a billion dreams is a good watch, every fan of his should definitely check it out. I'm sure most of us will be able to connect to it and the few significant cricket matches which were the turning points of Indian cricket, making us the cricket crazy nation we are today, revolving around the little master who turned heads of the whole world to India, made us all proud.

Verdict:

It was great to get a glimpse of India's history, including the revolutionary changes which took place throughout the years like communication, politics, terrorism, all of it added more flavour and is probably the reason why it doesn't feel like a 2 hour interview.

Guardians of the galaxy volume 2- MCU at its best

Guardians​ of the galaxy volume 2, directed by James Gunn is the fifteenth film in one of the most successful movie franchises ever, the Marvel cinematic universe. Once again Marvel proves who's the boss when it comes to feature films and this is one of those rare occasions where Marvel has managed to produce an outstanding sequel.

Iron man was great, part two wasn't nearly as good, Captain America the first Avenger was decent but part two was a masterpiece, Avengers was brilliant but age of Ultron was terrible. My point is, this is the first time that Marvel has managed to produce two outstanding movies back to back with the same series.

Once again we have Chris Pratt returning to play Star Lord (Peter Quill), Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper playing Rocket and Vin Diesel as Gaby Groot. We also have Yondu and Nebula returning along with Mantis and finally Ego (Kut Russel), Star Lord's dad.

The opening credits is so unique kicking off with Groot plugging in the awesome mixtape 2 and showing off his cute baby dance moves. The movie starts off straight away with the guardians kicking some serious ass. We find out that the guardians were hired by some golden people who's real name I don't know and I'm not going to bother searching for who they are because they aren't worth it. The guardians discover Nebula's location and are on a mission to take her to Xandar prison.

We have a surprise cameo of Sylvester Stallone starring as the lead ravager. He's infuriated because Yondu broke the ravager code by failing to deliver Star Lord to his dad for which he was paid generously. We find out at the end of part one that Yondu didn't deliver and he finally faces the consequences of not doing his job in this movie. Yondu justifies by stating that he only used Quill because he would come in handy for going into small places because he was a kid. The real reason for Yondu not delivering is later revealed towards the end.

Talking about Ego and Star Lord, the way they met doesn't make you feel like it's his father no matter how convincing his side of the story is. The reveal wasn't that great for me maybe because the trailer already showed us Ego, but things get more interesting once they go to Ego's planet. Quill vents out about how angry he is at Ego for having taken so long to find him, all the troubles he faced with Yondu and how he always wanted to have had a dad just like everyone else. There is a scene where they literally play catch with each other because Peter wanted to and I really don't know how I felt about it. The bonding between the long lost father and son is nice until Ego goes on to reveal his secrets, I would like to stop here before spoiling anything. Chris Pratt's acting when it comes to these scenes are simply amazing. The tears in his eyes were real because he lost his dad before filming this movie and he publicly told us that he managed to make peace with his dad's death after reading the script. I could see what he meant and his acting, coupled with real life experiences take his character to a whole new level of awesome.

This movie is mostly about two characters getting to know each other a little more, Gamora and Nebula, Drax and Mantis, Quill and Ego and my favourite of all Rocket and Yondu. Nebula tells Gamora the reason why she's so angry at her and Thanos, all the childhood torture she went through because of the fact that Gamora was better than her and how Thanos has made her into what she is today. It's heartbreaking to know what she went through and after realising it, Gamora begins to feel bad for what she had done to her sister. Drax and Mantis mostly keep accusing each other about how ugly they really look.

Coming to my favourite pair, Yondu and Rocket.The events leading to their teaming up is amazing, Yondu kind of has his own crew turning against him because of his humanity and Rocket plays a major role in breaking them out of that misery. It's amazing how similar they are when it comes to their motivation and their character, at one point they make us feel like they're both brothers. The love they have for each other is phenomenal and getting them to open up to each other goes very deep. In the middle of all that we see little baby Groot jumping in each of their shoulders everytime a bad guy pops up. This movie even though not as good as the first one in terms of plot and story digs very deep when it comes to trampling with our emotions and their emotions. Full marks to James Gunn for that.

Talking about the antagonists, marvel definitely takes the crown for the worst villains ever. First we have the golden people who are angry at the guardians for stealing something from them and they try to attack them with virtual missiles. Once again, Marvel suffers from its weak villain problem, something they've been having right from the start. Their motivation is stupid and what's even more stupid is their virtual missiles. Throughout the movie they seem too pop up in weird places and it's like literally playing a video game to destroy the ship of the guardians. That coupled with what sound they used for the missiles is completely ridiculous. We literally hear the sound of that guy playing Galaga in the Avengers in his computer. Now that I come to think of it, they are actually playing a game of Galaga trying to being down the guardians. Later in the movie we are introduced to the real issue the guardians face. But even that event is very predictable and becomes even more evident with Gamora's constant warnings. Once again, our second villain is very cliched, nothing very unique about him except the fact that he wants to deal with his problem​ with a very large scale destruction by destroying the entire universe. Another typical villain and he tries to use one of our guardians to achieve his feat. One more thing I'd like to nitpick about is the post credits scene, there are five of them and all five don't give us a clue for infinity war or volume three, leaving the theatre I was a little disappointed because Marvel usually does a good job with that.

Talking about the ending, this is where I feel like this is the best Marvel movie ever. It's something we've all been complaining about and Marvel has done it. I felt like Marvel slapped me right on my face. The movie is worth watching for the ending alone. It does something that no other film in the franchise has done before and it does it so well. Hats of the Marvel cinematic universe for that scene, I was wrong about them and it gives me tremendous confidence about infinity war coming up next.

It had an awesome soundtrack throughout, mixtape 2 is amazing and some great sound editing except the Galaga part. Baby Groot is like the cutest thing ever, he's the comic relief in the middle of all these emotions they're hitting you with. I feel like I can keep talking about Groot in a whole new different blog because they've put so much thinking when it comes to Groot. The CGI is top class and talking about comic relief, the movie is filled with some fantastic jokes. The best ones come from Drax with his English teacher character making your stomach kill you because of all the laughter, there wasn't a moment where I felt like the writing was poor. We continue to see Rocket building awesome stuff taking down tons of people with his genius intellect and planning and getting to have fun in the process like randomly playing with someone's deformity.

Overall this is one amazing emotional humorous family entertainer and has enough content in it to keep both the general audience and hardcore comic book fans (myself excluded when it comes to marvel) engaged with enough Easter eggs in it. For me, this definitely replaces the Avengers in taking the spot of the best movie in the Marvel cinematic universe. 2017 has been great so far, Logan was mind-blowing and now guardians did a great job, fingers crossed for Wonder Woman to do the same.

P.S. I would love to see rocket ask Captain America for Bucky's metal arm in the process of building a machine to destroy Thanos in infinity war.

Baahubali 2 - The most epic conclusion

Baahubali the conclusion, directed by SS Rajamouli is the continuation of Baahubali the beginning which came out in 2015. The first part was a tremendous hit worldwide and the reason for its success was its originality. It stuck to the roots of Indian culture and tradition without trying to ape a hollywood blockbuster and showed us how cool Indian wars can be. Part two has done more of what we saw and loved in part one and its awesome.

The movie picks up where part one left us, with Bhallaladeva's son murdered in the rain by Mahendra Baahubali, Kattappa at the feet of Baahubali explaining to him why he killed Amarendra Baahubali, Mahendra's father. Immediately after the opening credits, for all of us who watched the first part a long time back and don't have a good memory, important incidents of part one are depicted in the form of statues and comic animations, a great way to start a sequel. The flashback sequence picks up after the defeat of the Kalakeya army.

Baahubali and Kattappa decide to explore the nearby lands away from Magizhmadhi for hunting down bad guys and incidentally we are introduced to Devasena (Anushka) who instantly makes Baahu fall in love with her by kicking some serious ass. These are some of the most humerous scenes in the movie and most of the jokes come from Kattappa. The relationship between Baahubali and Kattappa reminds me of Batman and Alfred, Kattappa always has Baahu's back and literally lives up to his nickname 'mama' by helping Baahubali get together with Anushka. Sathyaraj has proved to us that age is just a number and the veteran actor gives his absolute best be it kicking ass or comedy or matchmaking.

While we are having a lot of fun admiring and relishing the relationship between Amarendra and Kattappa, Bhallaladeva (Rana) and Bijjaladeva (Nasser) are busy trying to come up with a masterplan to wreck Baahubali and dethrone him. The first half of the movie is basically how they succeed in destroying Baahubali. Bijjaladeva is the brains behind the plan and a major part of it involves convincing Sivagami that Baahubali is evil and needs to be destroyed. Sivagami is basically the main decision maker of the affairs regarding Magizhmadhi.

Baahubali and Anushka get married later and Bhalladeva uses their marraige to weave a fake story which makes Baahu look like the bad guy. Baahu is dethroned, happily accepts his fate as long as it ensures the safety of pregnant Devasena. Baahubali is the epitome of an ideal man, he's like the perfect husband, perfect son and overall the perfect example of how a protagonist should be. Considering how close Kattappa and Baahubali are the last person on earth who would kill Amarendra Baahubali would be Kattappa but he still does the deed. That was probably the most emotional scene in the whole movie and fans finally get their biggest question answered, 'Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali'? There's no one particular answer for Kattappa's action, its best I stop it here before I end up spoiling it. Watch the movie and you'll get a beautiful answer for the question of the decade.

The final act of the movie is to find out if Mahendra, Amarendra's son can fulfil his mother Devasena's wish to burn Bhallaladeva alive. We get more than a few war sequences and they're all a treat to our eyes. The highlight is once again the action sequences which I have absolutely no words to describe and I can only watch them again and again and enjoy each time more than the previous time.

Talking about the individual performances, once again Prabhas manages to steal our hearts in being one of the best war heroes both as Amarendra and Mahendra Baahubali only this time, we see more of Amarendra Baahubali (Mahendra's dad). He was potrayed as a strong, brave, fearless warrior and his dedication and love and loyalty for Sivagami, Devasena and mainly Magizhmadhi is applaudable.

Rana who starred as Bhallaladeva doesn't really have much to say except near the end but he more than makes up for it by showing off his body which is absolutely ripped. Seriously, what the hell was his workout routine? The dude looked intimidating and furious and his intention is to do whatever it takes to be the king of Magizhmadhi.

Anuska Shetty as Devasena, well she cast a powerful spell on both Baahubali and me, it was such a pleasure seeing her on screen. Bravery, courage, beauty, she had everything and she looked so beautiful throughout the movie. I could see love in her eyes when she looked at Baahubali, a wife's love everytime she looked at Amarendra, a mother's affection when she saw Mahendra and fire when she looked at Bhallaladeva. Her patience and faith were rewarded when she was rescued by her son and the look she gave Bhallaladeva when was just carrying Bhalla's son's head was just so badass.

 I can talk about her in a whole new blog but I'm moving on to another equally fierce performance, Ramya Krishnan as Sivagami. She just had the looks of a mighty queen in her very eyes, the way she speaks, her royal walk and her wisdom. At some point of time I was reminded of Neelambari from Padayappa and her character exhibited the same level of awesomeness as Neelambari and there were a few scenes which reminded me of Padayappa.

Nasser as Bijjadeva was the brains behind the masterplan to break Baahubali. He's so good at his role that he makes you want to get into the screen and decapitate him. He's a veteran and he never disappoints, I enjoyed every single scene he was in. The best part is, he's a natural, it doesn't feel like he's trying too hard and that kind of awesomeness is hard to find.

 Coming to Kattappa, what can I say? There's no other character who's as loving, as caring, as fearless, as funny, as badass as him and his biggest sacrifice, killing Baahubali and the level of pain it took him to do it, Sathyaraj steals the show with an emotionally overwhelming performance. He's definitely my favourite character in this Rajamouli epic.

The fight scenes were choreographed brilliantly, beautiful scenery,  amazing huge statues, excellent robes, anything which depicted our culture looked beautiful. I wanted to highlight two scenes which I won't forget, one of them being Sivagami introducing Mahendra Baahubali to the crowd, very similar to what Rafiki did in pride rock with Simba in lion king. The second scene is the middle of a war where hundreds of bulls were taking out the enemies with their horns on fire. I think its a way of showing their support for jallikkattu, even if it doesn't this movie is worth watching for that one scene alone. Bulls, plus horns on fire equals awesome.

Kudos to Rajamouli for creating this visual spectacle, this movie is an example of the epicness of Indian wars, our culture, our tradition and Rajamouli has made us all so proud. Its a movie for all ages, there was an octogenerian in the crowd and her expression during the credits said it all. When someone says Indian movie, the rest of the world thinks its 'Bollywood', well think twice the next time, South India has some badass movies as well. I'm not going to compare it to the first part and say which is better, neither one is superior and neither is inferior, they're both two parts of one epic story.

Verdict: 9.9/10

P.S. Don't look for too much logic when it comes be it fight scenes or songs, remember this isn't sci-fi, its just a fantasy war movie. Watch it, watch it again, and then again, its going to be etched in my heart as the best Indian movie ever. Endhiran may be awesome but its not original and the reason I choose Baahubali the beginning and conclusion is because of its originality and how close it has managed to stay to our roots.

Lion - A fitting title for a brave child

Lion, directed by Garth Davis is a documentary based on true events that happened in the life of Saroo Brierly. Saroo Brierly is an Indian who ends up in Australia due to an unfortunate chain of events.

The movie starts off in Khandwa, his hometown where saroo and his elder brother Guddu spend their day by stealing coal from trains and exchange them for milk and money. Saroo also has a sister named Shekila and we get a glimpse of his mother. An unlucky incident separates Saroo from his family and he ends up in Kolkata in the process. We see all the disturbing incidents and experiences this 7 year old kid goes through and how smart he is to evade every turn of bad luck.

Finally, luck favors Saroo, as an Australian couple show interest in adopting him. After getting introduced to their characters we come to realise how good natured and kind they are. Nicole Kidman manages to steal the show yet again by showing so much love and affection she has for the boy, treating his burdens as her own, and making sure the child feels safe. For the first time, we see Saroo completely putting his faith on someone and trusting them completely.

At an instant, without any more nonsense just when we think that the movie might be dragging a bit, his life is fast forwarded by about 20 years and Dev Patel takes over as Saroo. Saroo is now a young lad and Dev nails the Australian accent, doing a bloody good job of portraying young Saroo. He then goes on to finally meet his future girlfriend, Rooney Mara who was his classmate in college with him. The love between these two is so beautiful and Lucy (Rooney Mara) is so supportive of him and his dreams. There's a part in the movie where they play Urvashi in the background, by AR Rahman which just made me go nuts and gave me goosebumps.

Saroo is at his friend's place where a certain food item suddenly takes him 20 back with his brother Guddu where he asks for the same item. He goes into a nervous breakdown and there's a growing urge in him to find his mother and his family. After years of struggling to find where he's from, Saroo finally has some luck in finding his hometown using the idea suggested by one of his friends.

Once again, we see a very emotion heavy scene featuring Nicole and Dev Patel, a scene which reminded me of Clark Kent and Martha Kent having a conversation of where he's from in man of steel. Dev Patel finally books his ticket to Kolkata back to his country, with a desperation to find his hometown.

With a few old memories in mind, a few buildings near his house and the place where he lost his family, Saroo connects the dots and finds his way back home, only to realise that his house has been demolished and altered. With the help of someone who speaks English, Saroo is finally reunited with his mother who was until that day, still waiting and still searching for her son and that's were the emotions go over the roof. This is finally where Priyanka Bose, who played Kamala (Saroo's mother) finally managed to show her talents. 

Throughout the movie, we are given a mind blowing performance by little Sunny Pawar who steals the show every single scene he's in. The makers of the movie took a huge risk, something these documentary films don't do so often, giving more than 30 minutes of screen time for his flashback and I would say it more than paid off. The love he showed towards his mother is so pure. I'm sure Sunny Pawar is going to have a huge role in all the upcoming Hollywood films in the coming years. Top marks for the director and cute little Sunny Pawar. There were times where he was better than Nicole Kidman herself. One more thing which might go unnoticed, is the beautiful,  heartwarming and sometimes haunting soundtrack this movie had.

The only complaint I have is why Hollywood is always trying to show the worst parts about India. They did it with slumdog millionaire and now they did it here. They show how unsafe the streets are and how tricky the people are. It would be nice if they showed what a beautiful country India is and how caring and loving some people are. To me, personally it has changed my attitude toward the homeless children and will definitely change my opinion before I judge another child coming to me trying to sell books or flowers in a signal. I hope it is an eye-opener for everyone who watches it. The evil those kids face everyday, and how easily they get tricked, it's just sad.

Definitely one of the best documentaries I've ever scene, a very emotional movie, and the highlight for me will be Sunny Pawar. Deserved all the Oscar nominations it got, would have been a bit more happy if Sunny Pawar also got nominated along with Dev Patel. If moonlight won an oscar and hacksaw ridge didn't, I don't see why Lion couldn't. 

Verdict: 8.5/10

P.S. At the end of the movie we see that Saroo has been mispronouncing his real name, Sheroo, hence the name of the movie.
